Whether you're measuring hops, yeast nutrients, or additives, get it right on the first pour.

50mL Glass Measuring Cylinder — Precision Measuring for Brewing & Distilling

This 50mL glass measuring cylinder is a compact, precision tool built for accurate small-volume measurements on brew day. Whether you're measuring out a spirit essence, adding liquid finings, dosing nutrients, or portioning acids and additives, this cylinder gives you a clean, easy-to-read measurement every time — far more reliable than eyeballing a spoon or guessing from a bottle cap.

When to Use the 50mL Cylinder

This size is ideal for measuring small, precise additions where accuracy matters. Common brew and distilling uses include:

  • Spirit and liqueur essences (typically added at 50mL per 1.125L)
  • Liquid finings such as isinglass or chitosan
  • Wine additives like tartaric acid solution, pectic enzyme, or Campden solution
  • Hop oils and liquid hop extracts
  • Yeast nutrients and starters in small volumes
  • Star San or other no-rinse sanitiser dilutions

Note: At 50mL, this cylinder is not suited to floating a hydrometer — hydrometers require at least 100mL of liquid to float freely. For hydrometer and alcometer use, see our 250mL Glass Measuring Cylinder or 100mL Polypropylene Trial Jar.

Key Features

  • 50mL capacity with clear 1mL graduation markings
  • Borosilicate glass construction — heat-resistant, chemical-safe, and alcohol-safe
  • Stable flat base for upright bench use
  • Clear glass for easy visual reading at the meniscus
  • Easy to clean and reuse batch after batch

Glass vs Plastic — Which Should You Choose?

Glass is the preferred choice when measuring strong acids, spirit essences, or other liquids where plastic could absorb odours or interact with the liquid. The glass construction also makes graduation marks easier to read at small volumes where precision matters most. For everyday bench use where knock-resistance is a priority, our 250mL Polypropylene Cylinder is a practical alternative.
