Pluto Gun Keg Starter Kit — Everything You Need to Start Kegging at Home
Stop bottling. Start kegging. The Pluto Gun Keg Starter Kit is a complete, ready-to-use home kegging setup that lets you transfer your finished beer directly from fermenter to keg, carbonate it under CO₂ pressure, and serve it fresh on demand — all without washing and capping a single bottle.
Built around a 19L ball lock keg and a nylon composite Pluto gun dispenser, this kit is ideal for home brewers making the move from bottles to kegs for the first time, or anyone who wants a portable, no-fridge-required serving solution for parties, BBQs, and backyard sessions.
What Is a Pluto Gun?
A Pluto gun (also called a party tap or keg gun) is a handheld dispense tap that attaches directly to your ball lock keg via a liquid disconnect and a length of beer line. Unlike a fixed kegerator tap, the Pluto gun is portable — you pressurise the keg with CO₂, then use the gun to pour directly from the keg wherever it sits. It's the simplest, most flexible way to serve from a keg without installing a permanent font or kegerator.
What's Included
- 1 x 19L Ball Lock Keg with rubber base and handle (new unit)
- 1 x Type 30 MK4 CO₂ Regulator (6.5 bar PRV, 100 psi gauge)
- 1 x Duotight 8mm Ball Lock Disconnect — Liquid (black + yellow)
- 1 x Duotight 8mm Ball Lock Disconnect — Gas (grey + red)
- 1 x Duotight 6.35mm (¼") Female x 8mm (5/16") Female Reducer
- 1 x Nylon Composite Pluto Gun
- 1 x EVABarrier 4mm ID x 8mm OD x 12m Roll (double wall EVA beer line)
What You'll Still Need
This kit includes everything except the CO₂ cylinder. The MK4 regulator included is a Type 30 fitting, which connects to a standard 2.6kg or 6kg CO₂ cylinder. CO₂ cylinders are available separately — see our CO₂ Cylinders & Regulators section.
How It Works
Fill your keg with finished beer, seal it, connect the gas disconnect to your CO₂ regulator, and set your serving pressure (typically 10–12 psi for most ales and lagers at fridge temperature). Connect the Pluto gun via the liquid disconnect and 12m of EVABarrier beer line, and you're ready to pour. The long beer line helps reduce foaming by providing resistance between the keg and the tap.
Key Features
- 19L capacity — holds roughly 50 x 375mL serves or 33 x 568mL pints
- Ball lock fittings — the most common standard for home kegging, compatible with a wide range of accessories
- Duotight push-in fittings — tool-free, leak-resistant connections throughout
- EVABarrier double-wall beer line — low oxygen permeability keeps beer fresher for longer
- Portable Pluto gun — no kegerator or fixed tap installation required
- Suitable for beer, cider, sparkling water, cold brew coffee, and wine
Good to Know
Clean and sanitise your keg thoroughly before first use and between batches. A PBW soak followed by an HS no rinse is the standard process. Ball lock posts and poppets can be removed for full cleaning access.
